Rijksmuseum

From December 2003 the Rijksmuseum will undergo the most far-reaching renovations, rebuilding and restoration in its history. The completely renewed main building will open its doors to the public once more at the end of 2009.

The design is by the renowned Spanish team of architects Cruz y Ortiz. During the renovation of the main building, the Rijksmuseum finest works will continue to be on display in the Philips Wing under the title The Masterpieces. The Masterpieces at the Rijksmuseum displays the very best of its collection.

This presentation in the beautifully redesigned Philips Wing provides an exceptional opportunity to see the highlights of the Golden Age: the beautiful dolls' houses, a wealth of silverware, the best delftware, the spectacular civic company pieces, icons of Dutch history and of course the public's favorites like the famous paintings by Jan Steen, Frans Hals, Vermeer and Rembrandt, including of course The Night Watch.
