The oldest church in Amsterdam, is now a centre of cultural activities in the heart of the old town centre. The beautiful light through the high windows, the medieval church furnishing, gravestones (such as Rembrandts first wife, Saskia van Uylenburgh’s,) and the magnificent painted wooden vaults, create a unique atmosphere and give away something of the buildings' unique history.
The Old Church has been built in different phases and ages and has a total area of 4000 m2. There are two organs: a transept organ (1658) and the well-known Vater-Müller organ (1724/1738), nowadays both used for concerts. Matteo Imbruno is the organist of The Old Church. In the Summer the Walking concerts take place. One concert in three historic buildings in the Amsterdam city heart. Like in 2000 the Museum Amstelkring, the Palace of the Queen on Dam square and the Old Church.
Besides cultural events, exhibitions and concerts dinner parties, receptions, presentations and meetings, the monument is open to visitors.
